Keno Xtreme is a lottery game with a feature you buy for a hundred times your bet. Everything written about it online is built on the 50,000x payouts streamers have hit, and almost all of those came out of that feature. Understanding what it costs is the whole job of this page.

How Keno Xtreme works

Keno is the oldest idea in a casino. You pick numbers from a grid, the game draws a set of its own, and you are paid on how many of yours come up. No skill, no decision after the bet, and the odds are fixed by the hypergeometric distribution rather than by anything the operator chose.

What an operator does choose is the paytable, and that is the only lever that exists. Super Boost draws two extra numbers beyond the standard ten, giving twelve reveals instead of ten, and randomly selects one of your numbers to multiply the winnings by 100. In exchange it costs one hundred times the base bet.

Read that as a stake rather than as a price and it comes into focus. A 1 base bet with Super Boost is a 100 wager on a single round. A 10 base bet is a 1,000 wager. The feature is not an upgrade to a small bet, it is a large bet with a different animation.

The last row is not invented. It is the streamer session that produced the widely shared 50,000x result: a $10,000 base bet with Super Boost active, which is a million dollars committed to one round. The clip shows the win. It does not show the rounds either side of it, and the expected cost of ten such rounds is $300,000 at a 97% return.

A feature buy cannot beat the game it is attached to. The price is set so the return stays where it was, which means buying the feature changes the shape of your results and not their direction. Stake runs both, in the same lobby, and they are not the same product. This comparison is the most useful thing on the page.

The number nobody publishes

We could not find a theoretical return published for Keno Xtreme by Degen Lab or by any casino carrying it. On a keno game that is a bigger gap than it sounds, because the paytable is the only thing that sets the return, and a paytable tuned for 50,000x can sit anywhere from generous to poor depending on what it gives up in the middle.

Check the game’s own information panel before the first round, and hold on to a caveat from Stake’s terms while you do. Stake reserves the right to adjust the house edge at its sole discretion without prior notice, and states that in the event of a discrepancy between its house edge and the RTP displayed in-game you should contact support, and that it accepts no liability whatsoever should you place a wager in reliance on the displayed figure. That is unusually candid rather than unusually bad, and it applies to every third-party game in the lobby.
